At the Center for Nutrition and Metabolism, we believe in providing quality medical nutrition and weight management services to assist our clients in achieving and maintaining optimal health.  We accomplish this with an interdisciplinary team of knowledgeable and caring providers who develop and make use of the most state of the art treatment approaches.   We recognize that when it comes to health and weight management, one size doesn't necessarily fit all. With this in mind, we offer a wide variety of program options to best meet the individual needs of our clients.  As part of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, we are committed to education and research in addition to delivering state-of-the-art services and assisting our clients meet their health and weight management goals. Our medical nutrition group received the national Roland Weinseir Award for excellence in Medical/Dental Nutrition Education in 2007 from the American Society of Nutrition.  As the only University-based medical nutrition clinic in Nevada, we take pride in providing the best in comprehensive weight and health management care. 

Directions to Center for Nutrition and Metabolism

Our clinic is located in the Nell J. Redfield Building in the University of Nevada Medical School Complex on 17th Street, just east of the football stadium on North Virginia Street.  If you are heading north on Virginia Street turn right (east) across from University Car Wash, you will see the Post Office on your left and the Channel 5 Building on your right.  Follow 17th Street through two four-way stop signs (past the shuttle stop) until you come to the end of the road.  The Nell J. Redfield Building will be on your right side.  Patient parking is available at the east entrance of the building in the marked spaces.  Enter the building through the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department doors and take the stairs to the second floor.   

Payment and Insurance Coverage

The Center for Nutrition and Metabolism (CNM) welcomes all cash-pay clients. Currently, the CNM is contracted with the following insurance providers:

State of Nevada Public Employees Benefit Program (PEBP) PPO– $2500 annual Wellness Benefit.  It is the responsibility of the client to ensure adequate funds are available in his/her annual Wellness Benefit prior to signing up for services from CNM.

Hometown Health Plan (HHP) – Clients with any HHP plan options must obtain a letter of authorization from their Primary Care Physician to be covered for services at CNM.   

We currently bill CNM program fees to the insurance providers listed above as a complimentary service to our clients.  Any client insured with the above providers is responsible for any material/supply fee associated with CNM programs. 

At this time, benefits are provided only by the insurance providers listed above.  Any client not insured with these providers can pay cash for CNM services or contact their insurance provider to determine if wellness services are a covered benefit
