Skills for Life Classes
Do you feel like you have the information that you need to lose weight, but just can’t seem to put it into practice? Do thoughts and feelings get in the way of your weight loss goals? Do you eat when you’re stressed, sad, or feeling overwhelmed? Do you burn out on your nutrition and exercise plans after just a few weeks?
Being healthy is about more than just the foods you eat, or the amount of time you exercise, being healthy requires that the whole person is being cared for. Doing this allows the changes you make to your diet and exercise routine to have their fullest effect. If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then consider the following as a way to start being healthy in all the aspects of your life:
The Center for Nutrition and Metabolism is offering a new class focused on building key life skills that may help you lose weight and keep it off for the long run. Topics include eating more mindfully, dealing with stress, improving self-esteem, learning to accept and be non-judgmental of one’s self, how to handle times when you are craving certain foods, and maintaining motivation to lose weight.
This class runs for an 8 week period and lasts for an hour and a half each week. Each class is taught by Larry Pruitt, a Behavioral Health Specialist from the Clinical Psychology program.
